Friday (2/3), the first day of Java Jazz Festival 2012, Kemayoran JIExpo gate was opened at 15:30 pm, Joey and Four on the Floor to the series opener for the first day of the show promptly at 16:00 pm by Dewa Budjana, followed soon after. JJF itself offers a selection of performances that the audience can choose, such as Bobby Caldwell & Ron King Big Band, Maliq & D Essentials, KSP, Dolf De Vries Trio featuring Madeline Bell, Donny Suhendra show Trie Utami, Indrawan Thjin and Kirana Big Band.
In addition, there are many interesting events during the JJF 2012. Godbless, Depapepe, David Garfield & Friends feat. Gerald Albright, Dwiki Dharmawan, Jeff Lorber & Jeff Pescatto with Gita Wiryawan, Trisum, Rieka Roslan by Rendevous, and Bobby McFerrin also magnificent. There is also a special display featuring the jazz legend, Herbie Hancock, in Hall C2.
There is still Sheila E. who presents E. Family who appeared with expert Latin jazz percussionist, Pete Escovedo. Music legend, Julliard Jazz Trio performed with double-bass player experience, Ron Carter, at C1 First Media Hall. Also Indonesian jazz legend, Indra Lesmana along with LLW will perform a special collaboration with winner of Grammy Award, Maurice Brown. Indonesian group Balawan Bifan Duo and Riza Arshad & Trioscapes are other options available in the daytime. Three groups, the same gnere Indonesian modern jazz, a different approach.
Al Jarreau and George Duke Trio also perform Special Display in Hall D1 Tebs. Early in his career, Al Jarreau often have jam sessions with George Duke, so the collaboration between two legends are fun once in a lifetime for an event. Norway group, D'Sound, an event that promises to bring joy to the audience in Hall A3 BNI. And a lot to be excited: Medeski Martin & Brown, Taylor McFerrin and Manhattan Transfer.
